No-code app development solutions empower users to create fully functional applications without the need for traditional coding skills, accelerating the software development process. By offering intuitive drag-and-drop interfaces and pre-built templates, these platforms democratize app development, enabling individuals and businesses to bring their ideas to life quickly and efficiently – something Apphive excels at.
The startup
Meet Apphive, a revolutionary no-code platform that empowers both non-technical individuals and developers to create mobile apps for Android, iOS, and the web.
Founded in 2019, with the initial idea going back to 2016, Apphive operates as a globally distributed remote team with its headquarters in Toluca, Mexico and its members based in various countries, including Mexico, Colombia, Ecuador, and El Salvador. This team structure aligns with company’s customer base, which spans entrepreneurs and cross-national companies from different countries worldwide.
Unlike traditional app development methods that require programming skills, Apphive platform enables users to develop applications without the need for programming knowledge, offering a simple drag-and-drop interface to build the desired functionality and controls for their apps. This approach ensures that anyone with an idea can turn it into a fully functional app without the need for complex coding languages or technical expertise.
Apphive opens the doors of app development to a wider audience, fostering creativity and innovation.
The origin
Through running a website design company, the founders of Apphive realized the growing demand for app development tools accessible to broader audience. As their clients requested mobile app development solutions, they noticed the lack of no-code platforms equivalent to WordPress for websites. Inspired by this gap in the market and the need to empower non-developers, the founders embarked on creating Apphive.
After starting full-time operations in 2019, the team received funding from 500 Startups LatAm, expanding the team from six to 16 over the years. However, the most challenging aspect of their journey was building the first application and refining the platform to meet market demand, which took three years.
The name “Apphive” draws inspiration from a beehive, symbolizing the importance of community. Because for Apphive, it’s not just about creating a workspace for customers or developers; rather, they emphasize the significance of establishing a community among users who are creating applications on their platform. This emphasis on community reflects their vision of creating not just a platform but a tribe of creators.
The solution
One of the primary hurdles in app development is the technical aspect, especially for those without coding skills. Apphive resolves this issue by providing a no-code solution, empowering users to develop applications without having to write a single line of code.
The platform allows users to prototype, develop, and publish apps without coding, enabling entrepreneurs and businesses to swiftly launch new ideas and test them in the market. This no-code approach facilitates rapid iterations and reduces the time and resources required to bring an app to fruition.
By fostering a collaborative environment, Apphive allows creators to share their ideas, receive feedback, and even collaborate on different aspects of their applications. This in turn helps them address two crucial challenges: technical barriers and uncertainty regarding what will work in the market.
Apphive currently boasts around 500,000 users, many of whom utilize the free version of the platform. By offering a free version, they enable customers to start creating and publishing their applications without any upfront costs. This benefits both entrepreneurs who want to quickly prototype and launch their ideas and established businesses that don’t want to rely solely on their development teams, reducing the time and resources required to innovate.
As they continue to evolve, they will focus on reducing the effort required to develop an application by utilizing cutting-edge technologies, including AI-driven assistance.
The Tribe
Jonatan discovered Infobip through a member of an association for software developers in Mexico. He was intrigued by platform’s integration options, as it provided multiple connectivity solutions in a single integration, eliminating the need to connect with multiple platforms.
Through 500 Startups, Apphive applied to Infobip’s startup program, the Infobip Startup Tribe, and was granted product credits, which they immediately put to good use.
Jonatan explains:
One of the biggest challenges they were facing was unifying all of their communications channels and Infobip proved invaluable in that segment: integrating different channels with Infobip was straightforward due to the consistent logic across all channels. Jonatan adds:
Regarding their experience with the Infobip Startup Tribe team, Apphive emphasizes the team’s follow-ups and quick responses to queries. The team’s prompt support and readily available comprehensive documentation eliminated the need for frequent support requests.
The takeaway
