In 2020, Sergio Ríos Giraldo and Christian Muriel, two professionals from diverse backgrounds, embarked on a journey to address the unmet needs within residential communities. After identifying gaps in management, alongside security concerns, they discerned an opportunity to revolutionize community management. And so, Vecindapp was born.
More than just a solution, Vecindapp is a comprehensive platform designed to address the multifaceted needs of residential communities. It offers a range of services, from communication and security to management and financial solutions. Sergio, one of the co-founders, explains that the vision behind Vecindapp is to empower communities to become self-managed entities. By leveraging technology, Vecindapp aims to facilitate effective community management without the need for external intervention. Sergio explains:

Origin: from experience to innovation
Vecindapp’s genesis stems from Sergio and Christian’s chance encounter at a social gathering. Despite being strangers prior, their shared vision ignited a partnership that laid the foundation for their startup. Sergio, a software developer, and Christian, a seasoned sales expert, pooled their skills to embark on this entrepreneurial endeavour. Their initial discussions unveiled a mutual desire to address the inefficiencies prevalent in residential community management, catalyzing the inception of Vecindapp.
“Vecindapp” stems from “vecindario” (neighborhood) in Latin America, evoking warm childhood memories. It encapsulates the essence of community, fostering a sense of belonging and nostalgia and represents a space where friends become family.
Solution: platform for all
Vecindapp’s core mission revolves around empowering communities to self-manage effectively, leveraging technology as an enabler.
By offering a comprehensive management platform with almost 15 different services, through a monthly subscription, Vecindapp enables seamless communication, transparent financial transactions, and efficient security protocols. Additionally, they offer a platform for community meetings where important decisions can be made. This platform ensures that decisions made in meetings are aligned with the needs of the community.
The platform is integrated with WhatsApp, making it accessible and easy to use for people of all ages. This integration allows residents to use familiar channels for communication and management of their community and ensures that even elderly residents, often resistant to new technology, can benefit from Vecindapp’s services.
Through their innovative solutions, over 100,000 individuals have gained autonomy in decision-making, thereby improving their quality of life.

The journey of Vecindapp intersected with Infobip Startup Tribe, marking a significant milestone in their growth trajectory. Initially drawn to Infobip’s communication services through Google searches, Sergio’s personal connection with an Infobip employee further solidified their interest. Joining the Startup Tribe provided Vecindapp with invaluable resources, including credits to explore and integrate Infobip‘s products seamlessly. Despite initial challenges, the program empowered Vecindapp to leverage Infobip’s offerings effectively, enhancing their communication infrastructure and expanding their reach.
By integrating Infobip’s communication services, Vecindapp enhanced its platform’s accessibility and usability. The partnership allowed Vecindapp to leverage familiar channels like WhatsApp, which emerged as a pivotal milestone making their services accessible to users of all ages.

With nearly 600 clients and over 200,000 users, Vecindapp has become a vital part of many communities.
Looking ahead, Vecindapp envisions expansion across Latin American countries, with a focus on Mexico and Panama, aiming to become a one-stop solution for community needs. Their aspiration to become a comprehensive super app reflects their commitment to fulfilling all community needs within a single platform.
