What began as a small team in Canada has evolved into a trusted platform with more than 150,000 cleaning professionals and growing partnerships with major property managers across the United States and Canada. Origin

Cleanster’s story began long before the name existed. Co-founders Gloria Oppong and Derrick Agyiri started with a broader platform called AceBy, connecting freelancers with jobs across multiple industries in 2019. The data revealed a clear insight: cleaning requests were dominating the platform.

At that time, I personally needed cleaning services. We realized how difficult it was for cleaners to get paid fairly and consistently. Derrick and I even went out to clean units ourselves, just to understand what it was like.

That experience revealed a gap waiting to be filled. Cleaners lacked reliable tools, clients lacked trust and visibility, and property managers struggled to coordinate teams at scale. The founders saw an opportunity to build something better.

They pivoted the company in 2022, tested the first version in Montreal, and officially launched Cleanster. The company now operates across North America with headquarters in Austin, Texas, and a team of more than 25 employees.

Solution

Cleanster’s technology eliminates the friction of traditional cleaning services. Its platform allows users to book, manage, and track cleanings in real time. Clients can see when a cleaner is on the way, view photos of completed work, and even automate recurring bookings.

On the cleaner side, the platform offers an innovative co-cleaner feature, allowing cleaning teams to collaborate seamlessly on the same job. Checklists, progress tracking, and fair payment models ensure transparency and trust.

Our automation is our superpower, says Derrick, Co-founder. For clients managing thousands of units, we integrate directly with their systems. We pull data automatically, set pricing, and even have an AI bot that responds to cleaner questions instantly.


The result is a smoother experience for everyone involved. Cleaners get paid faster and work smarter, while clients gain peace of mind knowing every task is tracked and verified.


Tribe

As Cleanster grew, its team sought a communication system that could match their pace and scale. Having worked with Infobip years earlier, Derrick remembered the platform’s reliability and performance.

We were using one of Infobip’s competitors, but their delivery rates and structure became messy, he explains. When I rediscovered Infobip, joined the Startup Tribe, and received $5,000 in credits, we migrated our entire communication system to Infobip and never looked back.

Today, Cleanster uses Infobip’s SMS solutions to communicate with cleaners and customers efficiently, with plans to expand to WhatsApp and email soon.

What’s next

Cleanster’s next chapter is about personalization and predictive intelligence. The company is developing features that anticipate customer needs and send smart reminders when it is time to schedule the next cleaning.

Beyond technology, Gloria’s motivation remains rooted in people. The cleaners are what keep me going, she says. We are empowering people, creating opportunities, and making reliable services accessible to everyone. Seeing that impact every day reminds me why we started.

Cleanster’s growth story is proof that innovation can be both practical and human. With technology at its core and community as its foundation, this startup is redefining what it means to keep the world clean.
